Exploring Alternate Healing Modalities
The Pre-Conference Institutes will be held from 9:30am – 4:30pm with registration from 8:30am – 9:30am and a 1 ½ hour lunch break (on your own). Please note that the Pre-Conference Institutes are designed for attendees to spend the entire day in one Institute.
About this Institute:
Trauma can impact the mind, body, and spirit of sexual assault survivors (The Breathe Network, 2015 http://www.thebreathenetwork.org). This Pre-Conference Institute will introduce participants to an array of non-traditional avenues for healing that address the trauma a survivor experiences from a comprehensive, holistic lens. Since the field of alternative healing modalities is expansive, participants will have the opportunity to experience several examples of alternative healing modalities, including healing arts modalities (like movement and sand trays), coping strategies for those with limited resources, and animal-assisted methods. This Institute is appropriate for anyone working with sexual assault survivors who is looking to add to their service delivery and intervention knowledge.

For people with allergies or a fear of dogs please note that this Pre Conference Institute will have therapy dogs present from 3:30pm – 4:30pm. Interacting with the dogs will be your choice; you do not have to touch or go near the dogs.
