2017 Conference Pre Conference Institute Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking

The Pre-Conference Institutes will be held from 9:30am – 4:30pm with registration from 8:30am – 9:30am and a 1 ½ hour lunch break (on your own).  Please note that the Pre-Conference Institutes are designed for attendees to spend the entire day in one Institute.

About this Institute:

We know from experience that the words we use to describe and talk about an issue, shape our collective approaches to prevention and intervention. This holds true for human trafficking, which has quickly been gaining recognition as a growing issue occurring here in the United States, and North Carolina. This pre-conference institute is delving deeper than Human Trafficking 101, and will highlight the importance of how we share stories of human trafficking, and how this effects the narrative that society holds to be true. We will also be hearing from a panel of experts on how they work within this narrative to effectively provide well rounded services to survivors.

For people with allergies or a fear of dogs, please note that the “Exploring Alternate Healing Modalities” Pre-Conference Institute will have therapy dogs present from 3:30pm – 4:30pm.  They will not enter your Institute; however we want to make people aware that they will be onsite.
If you have questions, concerns or want to discuss this please contact Kristen Howe, Director of Training and Education, (Kristen@nccasa.org or 919.871.1015).
