Investing in Advocates
Please note, this Institute is only open to advocates who have worked in the field for one to three years.
About this Institute:
As advocates, it is essential throughout our careers to continue to learn, to connect with each other, and to take care of ourselves. The Investing in Advocates Institute is an opportunity for advocates who have been in this work for three years or less to practice all of these things. In this Institute, we will discuss the history of the anti-sexual violence movement, trauma (including vicarious trauma), and self care, and we will hear from seasoned advocates about the lessons they have learned during their careers. We will also have plenty of time to connect with one another as colleagues and co-conspirators to end sexual violence!

We are happy to announce that NCCASA is offering twelve scholarships (two per NCCASA region) for advocates who have been working in the anti sexual violence field for one to three years to attend this Institute. The scholarship will provide one night of lodging for the recipient and cover the cost of the conference registration. Meals and mileage are not covered by this scholarship. Additionally, for people with allergies or a fear of dogs, please note that the “Exploring Alternate Healing Modalities” Pre-Conference Institute will have therapy dogs present from 3:30pm – 4:30pm. They will not enter your Institute; however we want to make people aware that they will be onsite.
If you have questions, concerns or want to discuss this please contact Kristen Howe, Director of Training and Education, (Kristen@nccasa.org or 919.871.1015).
