Training Institute

The Training Institute of NCCASA organizes and sponsors statewide training to sexual violence victim advocates and other related professionals, with NCCASA, State and National presenters. The importance of continued training in this field is vital, due to changing public perceptions and sexual mores, legislative reform, and increasing collaborative efforts related to the fight against sexual violence. Training offers an opportunity to gain new and improved insight regarding services for sexual assault victims and survivors and for the prevention of sexual violence. It provides an opportunity for participants to gain a sense of statewide community support and shared mission, and to exchange local expertise.

Workshop Description
Advocates are not the only support system for survivors of sexual violence. They rely on friends, family, and partners to provide emotional care, companionship, and encouragement as well, and watching someone you care for experience pain can be a helpless experience. Friends and family of survivors have unique needs independent of the survivors they love. We believe rape crisis centers should provide outreach and services to meet these needs. Join us to discuss ways o support secondary survivors while empowering them to be an effective part of the survivor healing.
